    An LLM setting that controls how 'creative' vs 'focused' outputs are.

    What is Temperature?

    Temperature is a 0-2 setting that controls how diverse an LLM's outputs are. Temperature 0 = same input → same output (deterministic, focused). Temperature 1 = creative variation. Temperature >1 = random and chaotic. For most tasks, 0.3-0.7 is the sweet spot. For creative writing, 0.8-1.2.
