Chain-of-Thought (CoT)
A prompting technique where you ask the AI to think step-by-step before answering.
What is Chain-of-Thought (CoT)?
Chain-of-Thought (CoT) is a prompting technique where you instruct the LLM to reason through a problem step-by-step before giving a final answer. CoT dramatically improves accuracy on multi-step reasoning tasks (math, logic, complex analysis). Trigger phrases: 'Let's think step by step,' 'Show your reasoning,' 'Walk through this carefully.' Modern models (Claude 3.5+, GPT-4o, o1) often do this internally.
